Food manufacturers honored with Queen’s Award 2022

The awards highlight outstanding achievement by UK businesses in the categories of innovation, international trade, sustainability and promoting opportunity through social mobility.

This year’s list of winners included South Asian bakery, confectionery and beverage manufacturer Regal Foods, recognized for its excellence and success in international trade.

The company’s success has seen its overseas sales increase by 77% over the past three years and now exports to over 40 countries and over 3,000 independent stores and large supermarket chains.

Export portfolio

“With our export portfolio now spanning over 40 countries, this recognition really is the icing on the cake, it’s a gift from Regal to Regal and it doesn’t get any better than that.”

Other winners in the International Trade category include cheese exporter Cheese Matters, Scottish snacks maker Nairn Oatcakes, drinks company Bladnoch Distillery and flavor producer Totally Natural Solutions.

Specialty coffee roaster Origin Coffee received a Queen’s Award in the Sustainability category, after demonstrating the provenance and traceability of its ethical coffee purchasing programme.

“Asking how we can do things better, for people and the planet, is embedded in our thinking and seeing the impact of our actions and inspiring other companies to follow in our footsteps is a fantastic reward. It’s a huge privilege to receive this award and it is a credit to the whole team.

Machine manufacturers

Producers of food and beverage manufacturing and handling equipment were also named to this year’s list of winners.

Designer and manufacturer of vegetable handling equipment Haith has received its second Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the Innovation category – its previous win was in 2010. Haith won an award this year for the development of its Rota box tipping system -Tip.

General Manager Duane Hill said: Today’s recognition is great news for our team, a reward for their hard work, and a testament to our customers who involve us in their businesses and trust us to develop solutions to improve their business.

“Everyone at Haith is very proud to be recognized with the Queen’s Award for Enterprise for the second time.”
