kondagaon: Tribal women receive central government award for food processing unit | Raipur News

Raipur: The tribal women of Kondagaon district have been honored by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) for their outstanding work in food processing. The award was presented by Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma, Minister of State for MSMEs, for manufacturing agricultural food products and promoting female entrepreneurship.
The Ministry of MSMEs organized the “Five Trillion Dollar Economy – Investment and Business Summit with Awards” program in New Delhi on Monday.
According to Chhattisgarh Women and Child Welfare Department officials, women in the tribally dominated Kondagaon district have formed Udaan Mahila Kisan Producer Company, which manufactures and sells agricultural food products under the Kondanar brand. . There are 10 managers in this company and more than 30 women’s self-help groups (SHGs) are involved. These SHG women make more than 30 food products including pickles, chutneys, milkshakes, cookies, ‘Tikhurs’, coconut oil, etc.
Kondagaon Collector, Pushpendra Meena said that through this venture, more than 200 tribal women have secured regular employment and are receiving a minimum wage of Rs 7,500 per month. Meena said Kondanar is becoming a popular brand in the country and around the world. Kondagaon’s Udan products were also placed on Dubai Expo’s virtual platform. People from many countries have shown interest in the products of this brand, the collector said.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel commended the tribal women in the state and said these women have become social entrepreneurs and an inspiration to many. Their dedication and perseverance gave a new identity to the traditional taste, added Baghel.
